Love in the 21st Century - Details:
Rather than eternal universals, love, closeness, and intimacy are concepts that keep being redefined as society changes. Today's clients, from 15 to 50, have vastly different views of connection, changing expressions, and forms of intimacy than previous generations. In this workshop, we'll look at the influence of our overstimulated society on how young people today define, approach, and maintain intimacy within and between generations. We'll explore how to use email, text messaging, and Facebook---not to distance or triangulate, but to develop stronger connections. We'll use exercises and case vignettes to show you how to balance clients' hyperconnectivity with genuine closeness, while promoting boundaries in a world of constant communication. Finally, we'll offer techniques to help clients experience intimate connection in today's instant gratification culture.
